Overview
This record covers the Chief Software Architect & IT Business Analyst role at Atlas Contrôle in Brussels, running from October 2025 to the present. Atlas Contrôle is a Belgian technical inspection and certification body accredited to ISO/IEC 17020 by BELAC. The role owns the company's technical landscape end to end: the Odoo ERP that runs the business, and Atlas Reports, the in-house platform built to take field inspection work out of it. Both are delivered with an AI-native workflow — architecture, data model and acceptance criteria specified up front, most production code written by AI coding agents against those specifications, and correctness held by review gates, automated tests and generated-from-source documentation rather than by hand. Designing that supervision layer, in a setting where a defect is an accreditation problem and not just a bug, is the substance of the role.
Odoo ERP Ownership
- Led the Odoo 18 → 19 migration (Community edition) and all post-upgrade remediation: email templates, Studio domain errors, task smart-button visibility, and QWeb PDF report rendering.
- Restored company-wide outbound email after Google withdrew password-based SMTP, moving the relay to Gmail OAuth 2.0 and aligning SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
- Rolled out Google Workspace SSO across two domains; root-caused an upstream Odoo 19 bug in the OAuth callback, reported it to Odoo PS and shipped a patched module in the meantime.
- Replaced ad-hoc permission grants with role-based user groups, including a scoped qualifications editor so HR line managers can maintain training records without wider access.
- Built custom server actions, scheduled jobs and Studio views: automated order-to-invoice confirmation for Atlas Academy, a KMO-Portefeuille subsidy payment provider with split-VAT payment terms, and a weekly automated Primagaz data exchange delivered as an emailed XLSX.
- Administered Odoo.sh (SSH, Git, build shell, logs, psql) and consolidated worksheet templates across roughly 166,000 historical work orders.
Atlas Reports Platform
- Architected and built the in-house inspection platform: an Astro and Tailwind frontend on Cloudflare Pages with a Payload CMS v3 back office (Next.js, React, TypeScript) on Cloudflare Workers, backed by MongoDB Atlas and Cloudflare R2 in a pnpm monorepo.
- Ran the build as a spec-driven agent workflow: specifications, architectural decisions and a changelog maintained in Notion as the system of record, with AI coding agents producing the bulk of the implementation branch by branch against them, under architectural review.
- Designed an offline-first inspector wizard for tablet use (IndexedDB), a versioned bilingual FR/NL PDF engine with QR verification, and AI-assisted report drafting with automated analysis of inspection photos and findings.
- Shipped a passwordless, signed-link client portal to production, governed by a ten-role access model enforced server-side, generated into documentation straight from the source and guarded by CI so the two cannot drift — one of the guardrails that keeps machine-written code honest about access control.
- Reconciled the historical Odoo backfill at 171,838 of 172,515 tasks (99.6%).
DevOps & Delivery
- Ran three environments on branch-per-environment CI/CD in GitHub Actions with an approval-gated production deploy, behind roughly a thousand automated tests (Vitest, Playwright) — the review and test surface that makes agent-written code safe to ship under accreditation.
- Delivered an Odoo-to-Odoo API integration for partner order intake, live since November 2025 and designed for reuse with further partners.
- Led vendor evaluation and technical scoping with external partners on route optimisation, HVAC certification and offer automation, and interviewed and onboarded IT interns.
- Managed the supporting infrastructure: OVH and Cloudflare DNS and hosting, WordPress sites, Zebra tablet attendance kiosks, and the office network and print fleet.
